New Featured Event Ad

What is a Featured Event Ad?

Featured Event ads are ads that are linked to a specific Event on your site. They are sold to promoters who want to give their Events a little bit more visibility on the site. Think of Featured Event ads as our version of a show poster plastered outside a music venue.

Featured Events can be sold in three different sizes depending on a promoter's budget (for detailed specs and file sizes, click here):
  • Quarter Page (580x640): This is the smallest of the three, quarter page ads take up 1/4 of the Featured Events widget on each rotation
  • Half Page (1160x640): This is a horizontal ad that takes up 1/2 of the Featured Events widget on each rotation
  • Full Page (1160x1340): The largest and most expensive of the three, the full page ad is the same dimensions as the quarter but takes up the entire widget on each rotation
Featured Event ads are displayed in two places on your site: in the Featured Events widget on the right-hand side of each page and in the Featured Stuff section at the bottom of each page.

New Featured Event Ad

To create a new Featured Event ad, click the "New Ad" button on the main Advertising page and select "Featured Event". Click "Next" and you'll be taken to a form that looks like this:

Here's what to add in each field:
  • Advertiser: Start typing the name of the Advertiser this ad is for. If you've already run a campaign with this advertiser, you'll see their name appear in the list of suggestions. If not click "add new advertiser" to create a new Advertiser profile.
    • BEWARE: Try to avoid creating duplicate Advertiser profiles. This will create headaches for ad reporting later on. If you don't see the Advertiser the first time, try different variations on the name to make sure a profile doesn't already exist.
  • Campaign: In addition to an Advertiser, every ad must be linked to a Campaign. This is to ensure you can find the correct ads later on when you're generating ad reports. If an Advertiser is running multiple ads as part of a single campaign, be sure to link them all here.
  • Event: Start typing the name of an Event to select the Event that the ad will be associated with.
    • Note: Because Featured Event ads are linked to a specific Event, they do not have a start or end date. Once an ad is active, it will run until the Event has passed and then automatically stop.
  • Sizing: Choose the size of the ad you are running -- Quarter Page, Half Page, or Full Page.
  • Image: Upload the ad here as a JPG, PNG, or GIF file. For ad specs and file size limitations, click here.
  • Link Override: In rare situations you may wish for the ad to direct to a link other than the attached Event. However, you should usually avoid situations where promoters want to direct traffic to other event or ticketing sites.
  • HTML: If the client requests the ability to monitor ad performance with a tracking pixel, you can drop in the HTML here.
Hit "Create" and then check your site to view the ad (if it's active, of course).

Don't see your newly created Featured Event Ad on the frontend? Bust the Featured Events cache.

Whenever you make changes to an existing or create a new Featured Event Ad in Radmin, you will need to bust your site's Featured Events cache in order for those changes to immediately go live on the website.  To do so, navigate to the Caches page found under Advanced on the left sidebar of Radmin, then click Featured Events.
