Conference Lens Setup

I. CREATING A CONFERENCE LENS RECORD
-- login to Radmin, navigate to LENSES -> CONFERENCES, click "New Lens" button in top right corner
-- fill out the lens fields like you'd expect:
a. Title = Title of lens (also helpful to put a year with it if it makes sense, such as Vancouver International Film Festival 2016)
b. Redirect Events to Lens?  If a user clicks on a lens-associated event do you want that page to open on the lens subdomain?
c. Start Date / End Date?  If fest is one-day festival, it's okay to put the same date as start & end date.
d. Domain?  Never put www. or http://, just the subomain + domain.com like viffhub.do604.com

II. CREATING CONFERENCE CATEGORIES
-- First spend time deciding how you think the Conference's events would be best sorted/filtered. Depending on the type of festival, you may not need "true" categories such as film, music & art, though it's quite possible you could.  For most true "music fests" like Rifflandia, we've used stage/venue names for the conference categories, so that we can then use those as the conference shortcuts, allowing users to filter events by location in the app left/right slider bar.
-- once you've chosen your Conference Categories, head back to LENSES -> CONFERENCES and click the cog wheel on the conference record. Under the dropdown, click "Manage Categories"
-- input the categories you'd like to have for the conference.
-- NOTE: this does not automatically mean each of those categories will appear on the app/lens.  You'll still need to create Conference Shortcuts based on these Conference Categories.   In some cases, each Conference Category will get it's own Conference Shortcut (i.e. if you're doing stages or simple music / art / film) but in other cases you might want to have conference categories that get included in multiple conference shortcuts (i.e. conf category "hip hop" appears in conf shortcut "live shows" and conf shortcut "official events").

III. CREATING CONFERENCE LENS SHORTCUTS
-- logout of your metro's radmin.  login to the Lens's Radmin via the lens's URL + /admin such as viffhub.do604.com/admin
-- navigate to CONTENT -> SHORTCUTS then click "New Shortcut" button in top right
-- fill out the shortcut fields like you'd expect:
a. Title = what appears on the lens's shortcut dropdown menu
b. Permalink (not important | auto-generated)
c. "Display" should always be checked.  "Include Repeating in Main Listings?" and "Show Upcoming?" should generally also be checked but don't have to be if you don't want those to apply.  "Sort by Time?" generally will not be checked on the lens shortcuts, but will be checked on the mobile app shortcuts.  Reason being -- the lens offers users a little checkbox above the event listings to sort the shortcut by time if they want.
d. Meta Description = whatever you want to appear when the lens shortcut URL is shared.  We tend to recommend something like Vancouver International Film Fest on Do604  |  <shortcut_title>
e. use the checkboxes to include/exclude events based on their conference category

IV. CREATING CONFERENCE MOBILE APP SHORTCUTS
-- logout of your metro's radmin.  login to the Lens's Radmin via the lens's URL + /admin such as viffhub.do604.com/admin
-- navigate to MOBILE -> SHORTCUTS then click "Add New" button in top right
-- fill out the shortcut fields like you'd expect:
a. Title = what appears on the app shortcut slider menu
b. Permalink (not important | auto-generated)
c. "Include Repeating in Main Listings?" should generally be checked since we ideally want all conference events to appear, regardless of whether they're repeating events or not.  "Sort by Time?" generally will be checked on the mobile shortcuts since we do not offer users a way to manually adjust event listings to be rearranged chronologically once they're looking in the app.
d. use the checkboxes to include/exclude events based on their conference category
-- once all have been created, you can use the up / down arrows on http://radmin.dostuffmedia.com/mobile_shortcuts to put them in the order you want.  top shortcut = default.  2nd = first shortcut to the right on the app slider.  Last shortcut = first shortcut to the left on the app slider.
TIP: You should almost always have an "ALL EVENTS" mobile app shortcut which includes all of the conf categories, and list the shorcut at the top.  That way the app has a default homepage with all of the fest's events.  This is not necessary on the LENS shortcuts since our web platform automatically shows an "ALL EVENTS" page by default, but does not do so on the app.

V. ADDING ARTISTS / BANDS TO THE CONFERENCE
-- logout of your metro's radmin.  login to the Lens's Radmin via the lens's URL + /admin such as viffhub.do604.com/admin
-- navigate to CONTENT -> LINEUP
-- use the type-ahead menu to begin adding performers to the conference record.  this is what populates the "Artists" tab of the app with the little artist cards.  right now, the drag/drop to rearrange artists in the order you want is not working properly.  until we can get dev to fix, artists will be listed on the app / lens in order of popularity.

VI. ADDING / CREATING EVENTS
-- when creating conference events, please only create/edit them within Radmin since some of the settings/fields are not available on the frontend.  you can of course add descriptions and photos on frontend, but avoid changing event times, venues, titles, etc on the frontend.
-- create events like normal but make sure to assign Conf + Conf Category under the "Extras" section on the Radmin event page.
-- also, when adding these events you need to decide if it's an event you want to appear on your metro's homepage listings.  if yes, assign it a standard category like Music or Art & Culture, then .  If you don't want the event to appear on your metro's homepage listings, assign it to a category that then gets excluded from your default "What to do" shortcut.
-- if event ends late night, DO NOT choose "Multi Day", just put the start date, start time, end time.  Only time to choose "Multi Day" is if the event actually lasts +24hr.
-- IMPORTANT: if this event has not yet been announced, we suggest checking "hidden" and "disable alerts" so no one receives an announcement notification, nor can they find the event via search.  The only thing to remember is you'll need to update all events to be unhidden when it's time to show the partner the app/lens since hidden events won't appear.

VII. DESIGN
-- DoStuff will need the festival partner to provide the following assets so we can complete the app & web design:
a. Festival's logo (standard colored design)
b. all-white on transparent bg version of Festival's logo for app use
c. black & white app background image (1242x2210px)
d. primary "accent color" (hex code) for use in the app
e. any documentation they have for their brand guidelines

-- once they've provided the above, email support@dostuffmedia.com and we will move forward with the design work.
